Abdul Azeez Maruf Olayemi PhD

Dr. Abdul Azeez Maruf is the Adjunct Shari'ah Consultant of the Lifeline Alternative Finance Limited and currently a senior lecturer of Common and Islamic Laws Department, Lagos State University, Lagos, Nigeria. He was a Research Fellow in the Institute of Research Management and Innovation (IPPP)/ Department of Shari'ah and Law, API, at the University Malaya, Malaysia. He had worked as a Research Assistant at the International Shari'ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received his first Degree in Shari'ah from Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University, Riyadh (Nouakchott Campus) Mauritania. He later obtained a Master degree in Comparative Laws specializing in Conventional and Islamic Law of Banking, Securities and Insurance (Takaful) and his PhD in Law with specialization in Regulation of Islamic Interbank Money Market from the renowned International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). Dr. Abdul Azeez has presented and published books and several papers on Islamic Finance. Among them are "Islamic Insurance (Takaful) in Nigeria: A Proposal for the Adoption of Malaysian Legal Framework", Published by LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Germany ISBN: 978-3-8484-1394-2, 2012, “The Legality of Islamic Banking in Nigeria: A Critical Approach”Published by Prime Journal of Business Administration and Management, Vol. 2(2), February 2012. ISSN: 2251-1261. He co- authored two research papers on “Non- Interest Liquidity Management Instruments in Nigeria: The Challenges and Solution from the Malaysian Experience” accepted for publication in ISRA International Journal for Islamic Finance and “Arbitration Clause in Islamic Banking Contracts: The Relevancy and the Importance” accepted for publication in the Proceedings of Conference on Islamic Banking, Finance and Commerce, Oxford Institute of Islamic Banking, Oxford University, UK. Dr. Abdul Azeez serves as Shari’ah Advisor of An- Najat Co-operative Society, Ibadan, Oyo State and Islamic Crescent Co-operative Society (ICCS) Limited, Abuja, Nigeria.
